An East-Asian heavy equipment and services company, hereinafter referred to as “Client” had an enquiry for a multi-million dollar order contract in West Africa. The geography was unfamiliar to the Client and they had approached DVS at the possibility of bidding for the contract and its feasibility. Further, if found feasible, they wanted DVS to handle the myriad of compliance and complications in setting up the business and operationalizing the contract including repatriation of funds to honour obligations in host country.
A team of experts from DVS together with external specialists specifically engaged for the purpose, flew to West Africa and conducted a detailed ground level analysis of the feasibility of the project and local operational risks and hazards. Based on the feasibility study, the client intended to proceed with the order.
DVS facilitated the client to negotiate and successfully conclude the contract in West Africa through its network of professional partners. We set up the appropriate business structure to optimise ease of doing business at minimal cost. DVS facilitated the client to open bank accounts and in certain jurisdiction facilitate management of banking correspondence. Further, the entire compliance, across geographies, was handled by DVS including representation and occasional need for litigation. The Client was able to significantly scale up his operations in West Africa while DVS continues to handle his legal and regulatory compliance.
